The Punishment
After Prometheus had given the fire to mankind, Zeus' rage had extended beyond any bounds. The Titan's act was more than theft, it was defiance. To Zeus, this meant an unforgivable rebellion that blurred the line between a mortal and the divine. Determined to make an example out of him, Zeus had summoned his enforcers Kratos and Bia, to seize Prometheus and drag him to the edges of the world: Mount Caucasus. Under the command of Zeus, Hephaestus would forge an unbreakable bond to chains behind Prometheus to a rock.
Prometheus was nailed upright against it, exposed to the harsh heat by day and freezing winds by night. Then, came Zeus's sacred eagle, who would descend and tear at Prometheus immortal liver, devouring it whole before flying away. By night, the organ grew back, forcing him to endure an endless cycle of agony that would last for eternity.
