The Creation

After the Titanomachy, Zeus had rewarded Prometheus for his loyalty by handing them the extraordinary responsibility of populating the newly formed Earth. The victorious king of gods commanded him and his brother, Epimetheus, to create all creatures that would walk, swim, fly and crawl across the planet. The monumental task that would soon determine the fate all living beings. As Epimetheus finished outfitting all animals, he discovered he had exhausted the qualities Zeus had provided. As a result, there was nothing left to give for humanity. Humanity would be left naked, vulnerable and defenseless in a world filled with equipped creatures.

While Prometheus' brother took a rushing through creating animals, he took a different approach to humanity: marked by deliberation, care and artistry, sculpting mankind from clay and water. Prometheus had shaped humans in the image of the gods, a bold decision that set humanity apart. With the sought help of Athena, life was breathed into the clay humans, waking their consciousness.
